Diamaze PSD (Plasma Sharpened Diamond) blades consist of a diamond coated carbide blade. The diamond film thickness can vary between 5µm and 25µm. Because of the hard diamond coating, it is possible to significantly extend the lifetime of the blades.


To increase the sharpness of the blades after the coating, GFD developed a plasma sharpening process. The sharpening process, added together with the extreme hardness of diamond, allows, for the first time, the creation of a blade that combines superior sharpness with a greatly extended lifetime (up to 10 times).


Another example of the new sharpening process. On the left hand side is a cross section of a diamond coated carbide blade. On the right hand side is the same blade after the plasma polishing. A clear increase in sharpness can be observed.
